Winton House near Edinburgh wins prestigious World Travel Award for its Hospitality.
Winton House, just outside Edinburgh, has won a World Travel Award for 2005, based on votes cast by travel agents worldwide and presented at the Gala Awards Ceremony in London in November. This puts Winton House, one of Scotland's most unique venues for corporate dinners, small conferences and activities, alongside other better known winners like the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, The Balmoral in Edinburgh, British Airways and even the Paris Ritz.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the enormous achievements to be found in all sectors of the global travel industry. Travel professionals and their clients have come to regard the World Travel Awards as one of the best endorsements that any travel product can receive.
Rob Steadman from Winton House comments:
"This is a proud moment for us, especially as we were voted for by agents and clients worldwide. It is pleasing and humbling to know that we have been placed up there amongst some of the most famous hotels and venues in the world.
"This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our suppliers. We strive to work with as many local suppliers as we can, because we believe strongly in the quality of the products available locally here in East Lothian, 'Edinburgh's golfing coastline'. We use award-winning local chefs; an excellent local wine merchant who specialises in Michel Laroche wines; local Belhaven beers; Glenkinchie malts; Brammle liqueurs; local musicians; and clay pigeon shooting with Scotland's 19-times champion.
"2005 has been a good year for us, and 2006 already looks like being an even better year with enquiries for dinners, conferences and activities, which we have recently expanded, up significantly."
